Rated 3 out of 5 by Needs volume limit We bought our boys innotabs for Christmas. The biggest factor was the mp3 player and the storage abilities. They have played with their innotabs quite a bit and love to listen to their music on them, however the music is very loud! I believe it is loud enough to damage their hearing. We were constantly turning it down. By March the speaker busted in one of the tablets. I'm sure the volume comes in handy in some situations, but a parental control to limit the volume is needed in order for me to be able to recommend this product. May 4, 2012
Rated 3 out of 5 by no power cord hard to belive there is no power cord for the cost. May 4, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great Learning toy, bad battery life This was bought for my son on his 7th birthday. He LOVES it but doesn't get much battery life out of it. It takes 4 AA's, doesn't come with the product, and uses them quickly. You have to buy an adaptor, which defeats the purpose of it being portable and is also another $15. After tax its just as much as the Leapfrog one that is similar. I cannot complain tho about how much fun my son has with it and he allows my 2 year old to do it with him and they both have fun. Rated 3 out of 5 by for my almsot 3 yo old I love how my son loves his innotab, very disappointed in the fact that you cant plug it in to charge it. goes thro batteries very fast, got 2 sets of rechargeables and a car lug in but still. wish it had internal battery that was chargable at night or soemthing. otherwise pretty good. Rated 4 out of 5 by Great Toy I love this product. The price was good. It keeps the kids busy in the car and at home. I love the games and e-books that can be downloaded.(They are not as expensive as other brands and just as good.)Its very educational and fun at the same time. I love that I can download music and pictures on it. Now for the bad. I have tried cheap batteries and expensive ones. The battery consumption is horrible. The cover that holds the batteries becomes loose after having it for awhile. But for the fact that the kids love this and my 4 year old will not put it down its a keeper. April 16, 2012
Rated 3 out of 5 by Batter consumption Have a 4 year old son who loves product. Just purchased march 2012 and already have bought 2 packs of ultimatle lithium batteries not to mention they are [$] bucks for 4!!! April 11, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by InnoTab excellent learning app tablet ac adaptor impossible to buy one anywhere. come on, v-tech can do better with adaptor supplies. should come with one anyway. 4 months and still adaptor supplies non existant. April 5, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by 3 year old loves this! We bought this for our daughter's 3rd birthday because she is obsessed with our iphones. She loves the touch screen and painting is her favoite built in ap. We bough her an additional sd card which we loaded with movies pictures and music and with the innotab's interface she is able to use those items when she wants. the only drawback to this is she has also figured out how to delete things. Battery usage when using regular batteries is sort of a drawback too but we purchased 2 sets of rechargeables one is in the machine and one is kept charged. its something i would have done for my own devices why wouldn't i do it for hers as well? We take it everywhere. March 31, 2012
Rated 3 out of 5 by A few design flaw and NEEDS more games!! My son and daughter each have an Innotab. They really enjoy them. I just wish they were build a little better. Both battery covers have broken and are held on by tape. The stand broke on my daughters... very disappointing. I love that I can put music on them. It is way to easy for kids to be able to delete content of the memory card. After a couple of weeks of having to reload music and pics I finally thought of switching the lock tab on the memory card itself. Worked like a charm. Now when the kids try to delete it won't let them. When are there going to be more games. I bought these systems nowing there wasn't a lof games but figured it was just because its new. I really would have expected more options by now. March 30, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great for young ones My grandchildren received an Innotab for Christmas. Three grandchildren, three innotabs. Do you know how many batteries they go through? Why not have adaptors for these? They may not be able to take them outside if they are charging, but at least it would be better than replacing batteries all the time. March 25, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love this tablet This is a fantastic toy for young children, especially those that have older siblings, it allows younger ones to have the feeling of using the same high technology as their siblings while they are learning, reading, spelling, and problem solving! It is great to add to kindergarten readiness skills, the fact that you can download games and books to expand what the children have on there is great! The battery consumption is a bit much, but rechrgeables solve that, March 24, 2012
Rated 3 out of 5 by poor battery consumption purchased it for our son for christmas. found that after about 45 min-1 hour batteries were dead. also found that the screen and buttons do not always respond to touch. needs improvements in battery usage. purchased 2 yr replacement plan and am thinking of returning it and getting an ipad- seems to be more adaptable to most parents who can down load games etc and get better battery life. March 22, 2012
Rated 2 out of 5 by a battery user include a adapter for the charge. March 21, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Product I bought this item for my 3yr old son after he tried to throw my smart phone while playing a game on it. He Loves It!!! I also bought Cars game & the AC Adapter for it, thank god I did. He has not put it down since I gave it to him, even taking it to bed at night as story time. It has promoted his problem solving & reading skills. He has thrown & dropped it with no problems in it working. The AC Adapter stopped working after a week but I called VTech; they were very helpful & told me to take it back to [@]and they will exchange it [which they did]. Also knowing my kid I bought the extended warranty from [@]; which I recommend everyone to get. March 20, 2012
Rated 2 out of 5 by why not sell the adaptor? obviously a lot of people would be satisfied customers, and the kids could use this a lot more, if you would sell an adaptor? what is the hard part? why even collect these reviews if there is no response to this issue? if this is not addressed I will no longer buy vtech products. Rated 4 out of 5 by Great Product My daughter loves this..It does wonderful things and I have yet to explore all it does. If I had to give a negative it is indeed the battery consumption ...Wow!! Do yourself a favor and get the rechargeable kit they offer and the plug as they do not come with any of this unless you buy a bundle of some kind. Keep track of the stylus as it most likely will get lost dealing with kids and all. Good luck finding another one if indeed you do loose it...V-tech tends to not carry sufficient spare parts! I had to find my replacement elsewhere!! See service review.. not Great in this area ..AT ALL!! :-( February 23, 2012
Rated 3 out of 5 by Pretty good so far.... My son of 3 years loves his innotab and will take it everywhere. I have recently uploaded movies and new games to keep him entertained. It is very durable seeing the my son is careless at this stage. I can say is does go through battery quite quickly. Best batteries to use are the lithium batteries....the ones that say it last 8x longer than normal batteries. Have not tried the rechargeable batteries. Did consider iPad but did not want to take the risk of my son accidently having access to the internet. February 22, 2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by should have bought leapfrog I purchased the innotab for my daughter for christmas! i was so excited to give this to her, she absulotly loved it for the whole three days it worked! i bought a car charger and a wall adaptor for some reason i can not get it to turn on!to bad i threw the box away or else it would have gone back to the store!..I should have bought the leapfrog! February 20, 2012
Rated 2 out of 5 by battery consumption i love the innotab however the battery consumption is horrible. i have the rechargeable batteries. the first night after my son went to sleep, i plugged the rechargeable batteries up and let them charge all night however the next morning when i put them in, still only lasted for a half hour. now when i look on the website the adapter is out of stock.... i had to buy a 20pk on batteries just for him to play until i can find the adapter. please either inform the customer on the box that batteries or the adapter is needed or include these items in the box. February 19, 2012
Rated 3 out of 5 by We like everything but the battery usage I bought two, one for each of my twin grandsons for Christmas and they love them. It keeps them very interested and they usually lose interest fast. One holds the charge longer than the other one but I have gone through a box of 48 batteries in no time and I don't have them every day of the week. Thinking of buying the adapter or rechargeable batteries. What a shame for such a nice product. February 17, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Wonderful! My son loves his new innotab, I love it because he likes to play learning games. February 17, 2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by Don't let the good rating fool you Bought as Christmas gift for my son. use one day batteries died and when replaced device would not power on. Called Vtech and got it replaced. Got new one, placed batteries in, played 1 day and dead batteries. I have $125.00 invested in this and still need to buy SD card, games, books, more batteries and/or charging system or AC adaptor. I contacted Vtech again for unhappy with product and they said sorry you are unhappy. Not only am I out 125.00 but my son is out a Christmas present. Who can afford new batteries every day and they weren't thinking about the environment for sure. I bought my 2 older sons Ipod touches and wish I would have bought 3. I have 200.00 invested and they have over 10 games and 4 cartoons, 3 books and have taken tons of pics and videos. To get that much for the Innotab I will have 500.00+ invested. This was a stupid decision and I hope you don't fall for it. They make great protectors for the ipod even for little ones or check the reviews on the LeafFrog tablet. Good luck! I hope my review helps in your decision. February 15, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great for all 3 of my kids! We bought two of these for our younger two children (ages 2.5 and 5) for Christmas. The kids loved playing on their grandma's tablet and our oldest was getting a computer so it seemed like a good fit. The kids love them! They are great for long trips in the car to grandma's (8 hours) and for the youngest while the older two are doing homework. The touch screen is very intuitive, so even the youngest (2.5) knows and understands how to use it. The games are both fun and educational! (as reinforcement not as a teaching tool) The Cars game plays like the Wii (move the unit to move the car). Even the 10 year old likes to play on it and help the little ones figure out their games! The batteries do get depleted quickly, but we bought a set of rechargeable batteries and the AC adapter for both units and don't really have a problem. When they play them at home they usually plug into the wall and don't worry with the batteries unless we are on the road. Even then, the batteries will usually last the entire car ride as long as they don't leave them on the entire time (we try to mix up the activities a little bit anyway). On the issue of customer service, the company was great. My youngest one's broke (no idea why it was not visibly broken just stopped working). I called the company and when they couldn't get it fixed over the phone, they mailed me a new one. It only took one phone call that lasted maybe 20-30 minutes! We received the new one a few weeks later and haven't had any problems since! Kudos for that one since many companies won't send you a new one like that. Overall, we have been more pleased with this Vtech product than any of the others the kids have had in the past. Thank you! February 15, 2012
Rated 2 out of 5 by Battery consumption VERY disappointing Very disappointed with the battery life for this product! Received it (and a vreader)as a gift at Christmas. The toy itself is fine, and my kids (2 & 4 yrs old) like playing with them, but we use 4 AA batteries for ONE hour of play time (with both products). And after talking with vtech customer service I've been told that's quite normal. I was planning on using these to occupy the kids while we're driving to different activities over the summer, but having such a short battery life, it's really not worth it. Otherwise I'm going to have to keep a stash of at least 8 AA batteries with me at all times, and I don't know that I'm willing to do that. They're great toys if you don't mind using it plugged into a wall, but it's definitely not designed to be an "on the go" type toy. February 15, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by LOVE, except battery consumption I bought this for my 3&1/2 yr old son. He loves it! It comes with a few games that are already downloaded on it. My son loves the penguin game! I think it's a great device for encouraging learning because it makes it fun for them. We have the Toy Story and Dora games and they are the perfect age range for my son to use them. The tablet is very durable. Ours was even dropped from about 5 feet up onto the driveway and didn't even get a scuff on it. The only issues I have are that the stylus is extremely easy to lose. It doesn't have a cord attaching it to the innotab and you need it for a lot of the games. Also the battery life on this thing is horrible. It takes 4 AA batteries and they only last in it for between 4-6 hours so you're constantly replacing them. I did purchase the car adaptor and haven't used it yet but I'm assuming that will save me some money on batteries. I wish it would come with some sort of wall adaptor for how much you pay for it! The accessories are a little bit expensive, it seems like each thing is about $20 or more so it definitely adds up. Overall I think it was a great purchase and can see my son using it for years to come! February 14, 2012
Rated 3 out of 5 by Broken after a month! Great educational tool for reading, counting, shapes, etc... holds the attention of the kids really well, they cry when we take it from them, batteries don't last so we always use the adapter, the kids stepped on it and cracked the screen so now it doesn't work after only a month! Needs to be designed more durable for kids being ruff with it. February 12, 2012
Rated 2 out of 5 by Would be great if it was rechargable. I bought this for my grand daughter for Christmas. It would be great but the battery life is awful. She brought it over for the weekend and the batteries are lasting about 10 minutes. Four batteries every 10 minutes is absolutely ridiculous! She has an adaptor for home but that means you have to sit beside an outlet to use it. Why isn't something like this set up where you can charge the battery overnight? So now I have to buy an adaptor for the car also. Too much money invested. Next time I'll buy the Leap Pad. February 11, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by 10 y.o. Autistic Son has learned so much I got this for my 2 kids. GREAT investment. My son's 10 y.o. Autistic and its expanded his speech which was developing but its on a fast track. He's learned to add (faster) and subtract (faster) he use to do it but now alot easier and my 8 y.o. daughter has improved her reading skills and comprehention tremendous. This is an amazing "toy". I got it for my kids and so glad I did. We only use reusable batteries so this is great. Should get for your child? Yes. February 11, 2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by needs new batteries every day! this is a good toy, but dont buy it unless you can afford to buy NEW batteries every day. the rechargables dont last any longer either. i called the company and got a bogus tutorial about how to reset it to make it work better and it doesnt. i am stuck with TWO of them and i cant find the adaptors in the stores. it was a disapointment from a company that usually has quality items. February 9, 2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT! This is the second Innotab I've had for my kids because the first one that came wouldn't even turn on, so I had to return it (huge disappointment when it's a Xmas present). Now, the second one I bought came without a USB cable and without an instruction manual. Customer service is AWEFUL. They were completely unobtainable for ten days aftre the holidays. Then, when you DO get through, they don't at all care about your concerns or your problems with this product. I had 2 separate people at a retail store tell me this product is not worth the money because it breaks and malfunctions. The batteries which you must provide (4 AAs) are depleted after about 4 hours. You need to either replace them or PAY for an extra adapter. I'm appauled that this piece doesn't come standard with the product. Good luck getting anything done with customer service should you have a malfunction with your Innotab, which is likely.
