How does my child's data get transferred to Progress Tracker?
There are two ways in which game play data can be uploaded to the Progress Tracker. For Smartridge titles that are played on the V.Smile Motion or V.Smile Cyber Pocket, data can be stored and transferred by using the V.Link. Please refer to the V.Link owners guide for more information about transferring data.
Other web-connected products, such as the Cyber Spy Notebook or Cyber Rocket, use a standard USB cable to connect to your home PC and transfer data. Please refer to the owners manual for these products for specific information on connecting to your PC and uploading data.
-
Can more than one child use the same V.Link?
No. Each child will need to have his or her own V.Link to store and upload game scores. Visit our product area to learn more about the V.Link or to conveniently order additional V.Links online.
-
How does the star rating system work?
We've developed the star rating system as a simple way for parents to visualize how their children are learning with VTech web-connected products. In the five-star system, a rating of five stars indicates the child has mastered the topic. A rating with fewer stars will indicate a child may need more practice in that topic.
-
How is my child's average calculated?
Your child's average is calculated by adding together all the scores from their game play within a topic. This number is then divided by the total number of game plays to produce the topic average. To calculate a subject average, all scores for all topics within the subject are added together and divided by the total number of game plays for all topics within the subject. Please note, the average calculations only include the scores that have been uploaded.
-
How is the national average calculated?
The national averages are calculated using the same formulas as your child's average; however, for the national average, we use all scores for kids that are within you child's age group in the calculations.
-
What is the age group break down within Progress Tracker?
Progress Tracker has three age groups: 3 to 4 years old; 5 to 6 years old and 7 to 8 years old.

If you child is younger than 3 years of age, he or she will be included in the 3- to 4-year-old age group. If you child is older than 8 years of age, he or she will be included in the 7- to 8-year-old group.

The "Outstanding" subject is the highest by average subject. If two subjects have the same overall average, then the subject with the most playing time is listed.
-
How does Progress Tracker determine which subject my child is "Less Interested" in?
The "Less Interested" subject is the lowest by average subject. If two subjects have the same overall average, then the subject with the least playing time is listed.
-
Why can't I click on all subjects in the Progress Report?
The Progress Report only displays data for the subjects your child has played. If a subject has a gray image and there are no stars associated with it, this means your child has not played games that are relevant to that subject.
-
Why is there only one topic within some subjects?
While there may be a number of topics within a specific subject, the Progress Tracker Progress Report will only display topics your child has played. As your child plays more games and activities, more topics will be included in the Progress Report.
-
How do you determine which product to suggest for my child?
The products that are displayed as recommendations are matched to your child by age. Only products that include games and activities relevant to the appropriate subject will be suggested.
